The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng
Muntinlupa (PLMun) Kicked-off its 23rd Foundation Celebration on
September 11-13 with a float parade that was participated in by all five
colleges the theme “PLMun: Tunay na May Dangal at Talino, Katuwang sa
Pandaigdigang Pagbabago.”
The opening ceremony was held at
the PLMun Quadrangle graced by no less than Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi (JRF),
former Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon andPLMun’s vey own President Dr. Ellen
E. Presnedi.
In his message to the students
JRF shared with them the humble beginnings of PLMun, which was then known as
Muntinupa Polytechnic College (MPC). He surprised the students in telling them
he was actually a member of the MPC faculty and that he remains a member of the
PLMun faculty though in hiatus and hinted that he may resume teaching at PLMun
in the near future. As the Chairman of the PLMun Board of Regents, JRF
encouraged the students to not rely on the grape vine for information related
to the things that the administration is doing on issues that impact the
students. He called on them to seek the proper channel in voicing their
concerns.
For her part, PLMun President Dr.
Ellen Presnedi, citing Pilosopo Tasyo in Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere, extolled that
meaningful change does not come about quickly and this is particularly true to
the reforms being undertaken by the university administration. She appealed to
the students, faculty and staff to be more proactive and positive emphasizing
the need for all PLMunians to internalize the Core Values of the University.
Former Bureau of Customs
Commissioner Ruffy Biazon congratulated PLMun in its 23rd Foundation
Celebration noting the growth and progress that PLMun has witnessed over the
years.
Some of the highlights of the
celebration were the cheer dance competition, the Mr. and Ms. PLMun,
basketball, quiz bee. The College of Business Administration (CBA) is this year’s
overall champion ending the College of Information Technology and Computer
Studies (CITCS) 4 years in a row of championship.
