DepEd-Munti, LGU tie up for K+12 Senior High Prep

As the Philippines shift gear in adapting international standard on K+12 curriculum for 2015 ASEAN integration, the Department of Education - Muntinlupa and the local government seal partnership in bracing for pilot period of Senior High School arrangement for school year 2016-2017.

DepEd-Muntinlupa organized the Senior High School Task Force, as it anticipates increase in number of enrollees in secondary schools as the Senior High School will be added after the next academic year.

The Division of Muntinlupa faces difficulties in accommodating all Grade 9 learners shifting to Grade 11 – 12 in Senior High School by 2016 due to conflict of growing number of enrollees as to the facilities in public schools.

Muntinlupa Science High School, among all public schools in the division, solely passed the requirement in accommodating stand-alone Senior High School. Reviewed for the school’s capacity, number of enrollees, MSHS was classified as the only shortlisted school for SHS.

In the quest that all learners in the city are accounted for, the DepEd-Munti and local government of Muntinlupa collaborated in erecting additional classrooms in public schools to accommodate large number of learners for Senior High School.

Muntinlupa National High School, Muntinlupa National High School – Tunasan Annex, and Cupang National High School were listed in Justified/Long List of DepEd Schools for SHS for more classrooms and facilities will be added.

Through the General Appropriation Act, the local government will also subsidize learners who wish to crossover in Senior High School offered by private schools and higher education institutions with P25,000 assistance in hope to accommodate all Muntinlupeños for the new secondary level.
SHS Task Force continues to create avenues for learners to be accommodated in Muntnlupa so that they won’t need to transfer to another division.

The local government, spearheaded by the Education Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, and DepEd Muntinlupa act as a team to provide Muntinlupeño learners access to Senior High School preparing them for life.

Senior High School Task Force, headed by SDS Priscilla De Sagun, is comprised of DepEd Muntinlupa Division Office, SHS Coordinator Nerissa Lomeda, Planning Officer Phoebe Arroyo, DepEd HS Principal Dr. Florante Marmeto, Private School Coordinator Gina Urquia, Congressman Rodolfo Biazon, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, Education Committee Chair Councilor Stephanie Teves, Public Employment and Services chief Office Glenda Aniñon, Business Permits and Licenses Office head Gary Llamas, Industry Representative Elvie Quiazon, and Non-DepEd School Association represented by Noli Chua.
