Muntinlupa City Delivers New Birthing Center

The City Government of Muntinlupa is making birthing facilities more accessible to Muntinlupeños with the successful “delivery” of a new, 24-hour lying-in center.

Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi led the inauguration recently of the new Birthing Center and Emergency Clinic located at the Southville housing project in Barangay Poblacion.

“We want to make it easier for birthing mothers who need immediate assistance by providing 24-hour facilities such as these to our residents,” Mayor Fresnedi said. “Pregnancy involves a long preparation, but sometimes when the time comes and help is needed, it’s important that you have a nearby facility that can make the birthing process easier for the mother and her baby.”

The new Birthing Center has a four-bed capacity, with complete amenities to assist normal delivery. It is slated to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fresnedi also revealed plans to construct birthing centers in every barangay in an effort to augment the current capacity of the Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun). He instructed barangay officials to assist in this initiative by looking for possible locations for this project.

Fresnedi also said that additional ambulances are “on the way,” to add to the City’s current capability to provide ambulatory care to sick Muntinlupeños.

Representative Rodolfo Biazon also supported the current thrust of the City Government to make health care more accessible to Muntinlupeños. He explained that despite the current development with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), he will find ways to expand the City’s health care programs and services.

Biazon has always made sure that his PDAF allocation will reach Muntinlupeños, assisting in the construction of various projects within the City, and he encouraged other representatives of Congress to do the same.

Aside from the new Birthing Center, a new welding center run by the Muntinlupa City Technical Institute (MCTI) is in the works for the Southville community in Barangay Poblacion as part of the City Government’s commitment to help Muntinlupeños find excellent jobs.

Hero’s welcome awaits Martinez in Muntinlupa City

The City of Muntinlupa can’t wait to have Michael Christian Martinez come home to its arms.
A grand hero’s welcome awaits the young, multi-titled skater who captured the hearts and minds of the local and international audience as he returns from a successful first-ever appearance for a Filipino in the Winter Olympics.

“He is first and foremost a Muntinlupeño and our City is proud of him,” Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi said. “We are very privileged to have an Olympian in our midst, and young as he is, he is an inspiration to us all that indeed, dreams are still possible.”

A resolution recognizing Martinez’ record 19th-place finish in the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, was immediately passed unanimously by the City Council. A hero’s welcome, complete with motorcade, is likewise to be prepared for the young Olympian.

A total of Php100,000.00 will also be awarded to Martinez in recognition of his achievement, which will be taken from the Special Activities Fund of City Mayor 2014 Executive Budget.

His entry into the final round of the men’s figure skating competition caught the attention of international analysts, and his gallant showing as he battled fatigue and the pressure, coupled with his coming from a tropical country where snow doesn’t exist, endeared him to the international audience even more.

Martinez actually held a firm grip on third place in the overall standings for several rounds before being overtaken by more experienced skaters as the competition progressed. This early, though, he is setting his sights on the next Winter Olympics in South Korea in 2018.

A similar resolution recognizing the Muntinlupa School for Child Development (MSCD) in which Martinez is studying, was also passed by the City Council in its Monday morning session, commending the school for its role in shaping Martinez into a model Muntinlupeño and Filipino.

Munti city gov’t assists fire victims

More than 20 houses went up in smoke in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, following a fire that lasted for one hour and injured one person.

The City Government immediately dispatched food and relief goods to the 40 families affected by the fire and are now temporarily housed in Alabang.

“It is a good thing our Fire Department responded immediately to put out the fire and spare more houses and properties from going up in smoke,” Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi said in a sigh of relief. “Nevertheless, our City Government will help those affected by the fire so they can start over and bring their lives back to normal.”

The fire started at around 12 noon in a three-story residential property in West Kabulusan 1B apparently due to lit matches and spread almost immediately. It was put out an hour later by responding units of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Muntinlupa.

A 52 year-old woman sustained first degree burns on her arms and was taken away for treatment. Damage to property was estimated at around Php100,000.

On January 30, 2013, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi distributed 1 sack of rice each family affected by the fire.

In addition to this, the City Council will be proposing an ordinance to give financial assistance to the families affected.
