The Philippine Federation of Local Councils of Women held its 12th annual assembly with its theme “Economic Rights and Opportunities: Growth for Filipino Women, Growth For All” inTagaytay City last November 12-14.
Women rights advocate groups across the country convened in a 3-day training on closing gender gaps, transforming gender relations to facilitate equal distribution of development opportunities, striving for one goal to move forward.
Gender and Development Muntinlupa, women councils in municipalities among others participated in the assembly to facilitate inclusive growth, improve lives of marginalized constituency.
Local councils of women fortified women empowerment vision through gearing up in Beijing Platform for Action beyond 20 years, the Millenium Development Golas beyond 2015 and the Magna Carta of Women beyond five years.
PFLCW zero-in at economic opportunities, joining the global movement of women empowerment setting forth development not only for individual women for the whole nation.
Career Diplomat Ambassador Delia Domingo-Albert cited women’s contribution in society advances through strengthened economic status.
“If women are economically empowered, she will not allow her rights to be trampled but will let herself rise up and make an impact in the society,” Albert said.
Senator Loren Legarda also graced the event spurring women to rise up and set forth change in the world today. “The time for the talk is over, the time to act is now,” Legarda added.
Senator Grace Poe and Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo also attended the convention to extend their support in women empowerment movement saturating in the country.
With learnings from the assembly, the Gender and Development Muntinlupa continues its undertakings to provide Muntinlupeño women with tangible projects through livelihood and economic empowerment.
