The
City Government of Muntinlupa is making birthing facilities more accessible to
Muntinlupeños with the successful “delivery” of a new, 24-hour lying-in center.
Mayor
Jaime R. Fresnedi led the inauguration recently of the new Birthing Center and
Emergency Clinic located at the Southville housing project in Barangay Poblacion.
“We
want to make it easier for birthing mothers who need immediate assistance by
providing 24-hour facilities such as these to our residents,” Mayor Fresnedi
said. “Pregnancy involves a long preparation, but sometimes when the time comes
and help is needed, it’s important that you have a nearby facility that can
make the birthing process easier for the mother and her baby.”
The
new Birthing Center has a four-bed capacity, with complete amenities to assist
normal delivery. It is slated to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Fresnedi
also revealed plans to construct birthing centers in every barangay in an
effort to augment the current capacity of the Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun). He
instructed barangay officials to assist in this initiative by looking for
possible locations for this project.
Fresnedi
also said that additional ambulances are “on the way,” to add to the City’s
current capability to provide ambulatory care to sick Muntinlupeños.
Representative
Rodolfo Biazon also supported the current thrust of the City Government to make
health care more accessible to Muntinlupeños. He explained that despite the
current development with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), he
will find ways to expand the City’s health care programs and services.
Biazon
has always made sure that his PDAF allocation will reach Muntinlupeños,
assisting in the construction of various projects within the City, and he
encouraged other representatives of Congress to do the same.
Aside
from the new Birthing Center, a new welding center run by the Muntinlupa City Technical
Institute (MCTI) is in the works for the Southville community in Barangay
Poblacion as part of the City Government’s commitment to help Muntinlupeños find
excellent jobs.
