Munti city gov’t assists fire victims

More than 20 houses went up in smoke in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, following a fire that lasted for one hour and injured one person.

The City Government immediately dispatched food and relief goods to the 40 families affected by the fire and are now temporarily housed in Alabang.

“It is a good thing our Fire Department responded immediately to put out the fire and spare more houses and properties from going up in smoke,” Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi said in a sigh of relief. “Nevertheless, our City Government will help those affected by the fire so they can start over and bring their lives back to normal.”

The fire started at around 12 noon in a three-story residential property in West Kabulusan 1B apparently due to lit matches and spread almost immediately. It was put out an hour later by responding units of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Muntinlupa.

A 52 year-old woman sustained first degree burns on her arms and was taken away for treatment. Damage to property was estimated at around Php100,000.

On January 30, 2013, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi distributed 1 sack of rice each family affected by the fire.

In addition to this, the City Council will be proposing an ordinance to give financial assistance to the families affected.
