This project is in partnership with the city headed by Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi
and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). SPES is mandated under Republic
Act No. 9547 otherwise known as “An Act to Help Poor but Deserving Students
Pursue Their Education by Encouraging Their Employment during summer and
Christmas vacations.
The
heat is on with Muntinlupa youth, as they spend their summer vacations with a
purpose. The city government of Muntinlupa will provide various activities to
make their vacations wisely while they enjoy and learn.
In
coordination with the Department of Local Employment and Public Employment
Service Office (PESO), headed by Ms. Glenda Z. Anion, has started their
orientation with 175 students from public schools in Muntinlupa to be part of
the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) which is mandated under
RA 9547 known as “An act to help poor but deserving students pursue their
education by encouraging their employment during summer or/ Christmas vacations
through incentives granted to employers.
City
Administrator , Engr. Allan Cachuela attended the orientation to explain the
benefit and the opportunity for the students to learn how the city government
is being manage by City Mayor Jimmy R. Fresnedi, they earn while learning which
makes their summer very productive.
Some
students are assigned in the offices where they can encode, prepare
documentations and attend meetings, it’s a “hands-on learning process”, City
Administrator Cachuela said. This makes them realize the value of work and
education, especially to the poor but deserving students.
Aside
from empowering students with the value of education, the Youth Affairs and
Development Office provides Free summer activities to enhance the creativity of
the youth, with various programs like painting, theatrical arts, visual
learning, dancing , singing, music, and other performing arts activities.
Registration is Free and will start April 25, 2014 at the Sports complex.
For
the youth who would like to be like Michael Martinez, Muntinlupa’s pride, YASDO
offers sports activities such as Judo, taekwondo, basketball, lawn tennis,
badminton, volleyball, gymnastics and a lot more. Martinez inspire the youth to
like him, when he was still a student where Michael started in gymnastics. All
this courses are for Free, parents might as well enroll their children to the
Sports complex starting April 12, for sports clinic. YASDO chief Cynthia
Viacrusis said, “Fresnedi empower the youth of Muntinlupa to become productive
and healthy citizens.”
