MUNTI, THE CITY OF SCHOLARS : 9 CUM LAUDE, 3 MAGNA CUMLAUDE AND TOP 1 FOR CE LICENSURE EXAMS

“Pay it Forward”, a movie whose advocacy is to share and help others to make the world a better place to live, is exactly the same with the Muntinlupa Scholarship Program of Mayor Jimmy R. Fresnedi whose aim is to help the poor but deserving students in the city.

In his regular flag raising program, Mayor Fresnedi awarded medals to all the MSP scholars who graduated this year, 3 graduated Magna cumlaude and 9 Cumlaude including the Topnotcher of the recent Civil Engineering Licensure exam, Engr. Harvey Malolos, whose rate is 95.10%. The MSP provides P 30,000 educational support every semester to all qualified students in college.

MSP expanded its scholarship program even to the elementary, highschool , college and to the Vocational –technical school-Muntinlupa Technical and vocational school in Putatan. For the elem. They are receiving monthly P 300 a month, highschool is P400 and college is P 30,000 per semester.  MSP provides support also to vocational students to undergo national certification and accreditation for their immediate employment locally or abroad,  scholarship is also given to talented , atheletic students, and lastly all state colleges and universities are part of the scholarship scheme of Muntinlupa.

Muntinlupa is said to be soon the “city of scholars” as Fresnedi further expands the scholarship program even to private schools, this will have to be amended by the City council. Fresnedi explains that the key to a stable future is through education, this advocacy came into his mind when he was still a Vicemayor where he taught at the former Muntinlupa Polythecnic College (MPC), now Pamantasan Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (Ched-accredited), the student population was low during that time, infact there are some “kasambahays” (helper) who also became his students.

This started Fresnedi’s journey to become the Education Mayor. Aside form the expanded scholarship program, an ongoing construction of Tunasan Highschool is now on its finishing touches and will soon be open this June, while the Muntinlupa National Highschool Gymnasium is stiil underconstruction and additional school in Cupang.

MSP intends to form the Muntinlupa Scholarship Alumni Foundation, chaired by one of the MSP alumnae and shall be supervise by MSP Head-Karla Marie Gabriel with Marvin Tomandao, both Cum Laude at the University of the Philippines. As Fresnedi end his breakfast treat with all the families of scholars, his wish is to have graduates in everyhome in Muntinlupa, education is the only equalizer in life and he will ensure that this will come true to all Muntinlupenos . An educated City is a well informed citizenry.

Munti execs to receive top management training

Expect better service and client care the next time you visit City Hall as executives and managers at the Muntinlupa City Government are set to undergo training to improve their efficiency and public service.

This is after Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi signed a memorandum of agreement with no less than the esteemed Dr. Eduardo A. Morato Jr., who is a recognized guru on management and public service at the prestigious Asian Institute of Management (AIM).

We are very much honored to have Dr. Morato help us improve our City Government,” Fresnedi said. “We want for our executives and department managers to be considerably developed in their skills and capabilities so that they can serve Muntinlupeños better.”

Dr. Morato will be conducting a five-module Executive Development Program (EDP) on Reinventing Public Management Services for the City Government’s top-level executives. This will be conducted at a date to be agreed upon by the two parties.

The aim of the EDP is to equip top-level executives of the City Government with cutting-edge skills and enable the local government as a whole to deliver better, faster, and more effective public services to the constituency, in accordance with the City Government’s long-term vision of a fully-developed city.
